Metinvest Group Companies Publish First Environmental Declarations for Steel Products Made in Ukraine
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardized way of providing transparent information about a product’s environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle, in line with ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards.
The published EPDs for products manufactured by PJSC Zaporizhstal and PJSC Kamet Steel are the result of a year-long collaboration between these Metinvest Group enterprises and CERN – the Center for Ecology and New Technologies Development of the NGO Living Planet, together with its partner, LCA Studio (Czech Republic).
The EPD International database has been updated with declarations for hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel coils, pig iron, and steel slabs produced by Zaporizhstal, as well as steel billets from Kamet Steel. In the “Ukraine” section, there are currently only a few declarations — a modest figure compared to the thousands available for products from other European and global producers, where EPDs are the most common format for environmental information in the construction industry.
