Ukraine Adopts European Standards of Environmental Regulation

🌍🌿 Ukraine Adopts European Standards of Environmental Regulation

▪ On August 8, 2025, the Law “On Integrated Prevention and Control of Industrial Pollution” officially came into force in Ukraine. The law fully implements Directive 2010/75/EU on industrial emissions.

Under the new rules, instead of three separate permits (for 💧 special water use, 💨 air emissions, and ♻️ waste management), enterprises will receive a single integrated environmental permit.

📲 All permitting procedures will be available online thanks to the establishment of the Unified State Register of Integrated Environmental Permits.

✅🏭 Enterprises will be provided with conditions for a gradual transition to the new permitting system and the implementation of BAT (Best Available Techniques). The law stipulates that new installations, which have not yet been commissioned and do not possess permits, may operate only under the new rules. A transitional period is established for all existing installations: permits for emissions, special water use, and waste management issued earlier will remain valid until an integrated permit is obtained, but no later than 4️⃣ years from the date the law enters into force.
