❗💥 The Ministry of Ecology has calculated Ukraine’s losses from the Russian invasion

Over two years of full-scale invasion, Russia has inflicted damages on the Ukrainian environment totaling nearly $63 billion USD.

▪ The most affected regions are Donetsk (over 18 billion UAH), Luhansk (over 13 billion UAH), and Kharkiv (almost 11.5 billion UAH).

▪ Agricultural losses due to the war amount to $8.7 billion – burned fields, destroyed, and looted machinery. The area of burned territories in Ukraine is equivalent to burning the Maldives six times.

▪ In the Black and Azov Seas, 900 dolphins died due to the sonars of Russian ships.

▪ 56,000 tons represent emissions from destroyed Russian equipment. This is equivalent to two Statue of Liberties if they were turned into dust and thrown into the atmosphere. Damages from the destruction of water infrastructure and water pollution amount to $8 million.

▪ Ukraine also lost up to 35-40% of its freshwater reserves due to the undermining of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station by Russian occupiers.
